Inspiration

I considered myself an “IT Guy” forever since I was a kid. In 2007 I started my professional career in IT Infrastructure / TechSupport. This was around the same time that the IT Crowd series came out. I remember being super jealous watching Roy wear an amazing shirt in every episode vs me having almost exclusively plaid shirts bought by my mom 😂.

So in 2010 I decided it was time for a change. I got myself the first few tees from Tomcat Polo (archive) and started to wear them at work.

These were an instant hit! Suddenly I felt like I am the “IT God” in the eyes of most people at the office. This of course helped me get some new friends / get conversations going. Watching people reading my t-shirts was also very funny for me, so it’s definitely a WIN-WIN situation for all. 😄

Collecting Tees?

I officially started collecting them around 2011 on a business trip to the US - I ordered a bunch of tees from SnorgTees and ThinkGeek (archive) and brought them back with me.

In 2014 I went on another trip - I remember fondly when people on the streets of Manhattan gave me a big smile and/or an OG comment when they encountered “Hip Hop Anonymous”🔥. This experience reinforced my feeling that I must get some MORE shirts I missed before.
